Ulster-Scots Agency Juvenile Pipe Band
Ulster-Scots Agency Juvenile Pipe Band is made up of children aged between 9 and 15, it was created by the Ulster-Scots Agency in August of 2012 and has seen the children move from absolute beginners to novice musicians in a very short space of time.
The band is the product of the Ulster-Scots Agency's wider education and schools initiative that includes schools across the nine counties of Ulster which has demonstrated how cultural identity can enrich people's lives. We are immensely proud that we continue to engage with increasing numbers of children and schools, exploring the Ulster-Scots contribution to the whole of Ulster.
This particular cultural journey had led these young people to the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow said Jim Millar director of education at the Ulster-Scots Agency. The juvenile pipe band is made up of children from across the whole of Ulster including Monaghan, Donegal and Tyrone and they have been taught pipes by the Ulster-Scots Agency's tutor Andy McGregor, who is a former Grade 1 Pipe Major and drumming by Brendan Megoran who is also a former Grade 1 lead drummer.
