Churchill Flute Band
The Churchill Flute Band is widely regarded as the oldest marching band of its kind, still in existence, anywhere in Ireland if not the World. Having been formed in 1835, it has a long reputation for high standards both on the street and on the stage for both concerts and contests. The band has played to many varied audiences over the years, having travelled to England, the Isle of Man, Republic of Ireland, Belgium and France as well as our many engagements across Northern Ireland. Originally named 'Milltown Flute Band', the name Church Hill was introduced reflecting the Church Brae, at the foot of which the band practised - later shortened to Churchill. Today the band is firmly based on the City's west bank, with the Apprentice Boys Memorial Hall the place where they call home!
